King Blue has arrived!
![]()
"King Blue" is a creation of the International Reptile Conservation Foundation to support the Blue Iguana Recovery Program and will soon be available in the U.S. and Grand Cayman. Designed by talented sculptor/artist Joel Friesch with packaging developed by IRCF President, John Binns, "King Blue" represents the Blue Iguana (Cyclura lewisi), a critically endangered species found only on the Caribbean island of Grand Cayman. Fewer than 20 of these giant (up to 5 feet long and weighing as much 20 pounds) lizards remain in the wild but, with the efforts of the Blue Iguana Recovery Program, the hope is to reintroduce animals hatched and raised at the headstart facility back into their natural habitat to develop a healthy, self-sustaining population.
At $12.95 (CA sales tax applicable), with shipping and handling, "King Blue" makes a wonderful addition to any cyclura admirer's collection. He stands at 4.6 in., with a healthy width of 3.4 in. and 5.5 in. length (not the true STL!). "King Blue" weighs in at nearly a pound, equivalent to a baby Cyclura! Hand painted and made of hand-cast plaster, "King Blue" is not your standard every-day item. His vivid blue hues and compelling red eyes are strikingly realistic. Thanks to tight spring-action, "King Blue" can vigorously bob. Purchase two "King Blues" and you have yourself a territorial display! Joel's talent has truly captured the heart and soul of the magnificent Blue Iguana!
King Blue's base displays one of Cayman's endemic butterflies. He arrives housed in a clear clam-shell within a graphic-covered hardboard box. Inside the box, you will also find an insert which provides a brief history of the Blue Iguana. The box itself showcases the graphics talent of Joel and John, and makes for a great display case.
The profit from your purchase benefits the Blue Iguana Recovery Program to support the headstart facility and the ongoing effort to restore the Blue Iguanas to their natural habitat. Please spread the word to ensure the survival of these incredible creatures.
